Police in Nansana are investigating a case of disappearance of a teenage girl identified as Hanifah Nabumba aged 14 years.
Kampala Metropolitan Police has Tuesday said that Nansana area Police received information about Nabumba’s disappearance on 7th December 2020 at around 9 pm. It was registered on vide Kabumbi Police post SDREF 02/07/12/2020.
It is alleged that Nabumba disappeared on 6th December 2020 at about 3 pm from Nansana East 1 B (Kabumbi) in Nansana Division.
In a brief statement by KMP spokesperson SP Patrick Onyango, he said that investigations commenced immediately and all police units were alerted.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim did not possess any mobile phone hence making it complicated to trace her.
However, according to Onyango, an eyewitness, who is a neighbour to the victim’s home, said she saw a Toyota Premio motor vehicle parked at a distance and the victim was forced to enter the same car before it drove off.
“Police detectives will use footage from the nearby CCTV cameras to trace for the victim as investigations are ongoing,” said Onyango.
He also appealed to anyone with any information about the incident or any information on where Nabumba could be to pass it in confidentially to the nearest Police Station or ring the following telephone numbers 0712978168, 0714662060 or 0718851381.
This incident has attracted attention of security agencies since Nanasana has been a hot bed of crime including kidnaps for ransom and murder.
In 2018, the area registered a total of about 28 murders of women who were kidnapped, raped and later murdered brutally.
