Nakawa Magistrate Charged for Taking Bribe, Released on Bail

Nakawa Grade Two magistrate Agnes Napiyo has been charged before the Anti -corruption court with 2 counts of corruption and abuse of office.

Napiyo appeared before Magistrate Patricia Amoko and denied the offenses.

Prosecution’s Micah Luteete says between 2nd/March 2017 and 8th/April 2017 in Nakawa Kampala district while at Nakawa chief Magistrates court, magistrate Napiyo corruptly solicited for  one million  shillings from a one Vicent  Amam Egesa as an inducement to reverse a child custody ruling in his favour for the family cause No.251 of 2016

Its further alleged that on 8th 04 2017 at Bonjour Supermarket, ed Total Petrol station Nakawa division Kampala corruptly received gratification of Uganda shillings 700, health 000 (seven hundred thousand shillings) from Vicent Amam Egesa as inducement to reverse child custody

And lastly that between 2 April 2017 and 8 April 2017 while in her employment as a grade two magistrate Napiyo went a head to  abuse when she solicited shillings 1000,000/ and receiving a gratfication og shillings 700,000 from Vicent Egessa as an inducement

The suspect was however released on a cash bail of  500,000 shillings and ordered to return back  to court on the 27th/April /2017 for mentioning  of this case.
