Nakaseke: Panga Welding Thugs Hack SACCO Boss

Police in Nakaseke district are hunting for unknown assailants who attacked and brutally hacked to death a micro finance boss.

The deceased identified as Constantino Semakade, 65, has been the Managing Director and co-founder of Semuto People’s Sacco in Nakaseke town.

He has been a resident of Nakazi Village, Semuto sub county Nakaseke district.

On the fateful day of Thursday night, it is alleged that Mr Semakade was waylaid by assailants from his compound at around 9pm.

According to a close family members, the deceased was attacked when he had moved out of the house for a walk after having supper.

The family member also said that the assailants also cut and severely injured the wife to the deceased as she rushed outside to rescue her husband.

Savannah Region Police Spokesperson ASP Paul Kangave identified the injured wife as Gatrude Nalubega who he said was admitted to kiwoko Heath center III for treatment.

He said police have commenced investigations into the attack and promised that the assailants will be brought to book.

Kangave also added that no suspect has so far been arrested as he noted that the crime scene was tempered with by the area residents who reached at the scene before police.

Residents of Luweero Semuto and Nakaseke districts are in panic mode following the attack fearing that panga welding thugs have now invaded their areas.

Last month, some criminal elements dropped life threatening leaflets in Luwero district and surrounding areas warning residents of attacks.

The life threatening leaflets included names of area politicians and prominent businessmen.

However police has since urged the public to be vigilant and report any incidents and persons suspected to be criminals by calling on the newly installed police counter telephone numbers across all police stations and posts in the country.

According to police, the use of mobile numbers will enable quick and rapid response to crimes.
