Musumba Sued over Shs 300m Debt

Former State Minister for Regional Foreign Affairs, try treatment Isaac Musumba has been dragged to court for failing to pay a debt of over Shs300 million.

It is alleged Musumba acquired the loan from Rutungo Investments Bank last year but is yet to honour his obligations despite repeated reminders, cure the latest being on March 4.

The director of the financial institution, Ben Kavuya now claims to have “suffered heavy financial losses” due to Musumba’s stubbornness.

Musumba has been given 10 days to file his defence before High Court judge Billy Kainamura.

Several MPs are choking on debts arising from financial commitments in their constituencies.

Many borrow funds from Kampala private money lenders at high interest rates using their huge salaries as guarantee.

This has plunged many into bottomless pits of indebtedness.
