Muslim leaders in Kabale District have appealed to government to support religious leaders across the Country with relief food during this Covid-19 lockdown, because they were greatly affected.
These made the appeal on Thursday at Kabale Muslim District Offices in Kirigime, Kabale Municipality, while handing over 500 kilograms of maize flour from the Office of Uganda Supreme Council to mosque Imams in Kabale, Rukiga and Rubanda districts.
The Kabale Muslim District Kadth Sheikh Kabu Lule handed the flour to Constituency Sheikhs who will distribute it to Imams in their respective constituencies.
Hajji Issah Tindyebwa the Chairperson of Kabale Muslim District Council said that religious leaders from different religions were among the most affected people since the outbreak of the pandemic after closing of worshiping places where they would depend on offertories, yet government has not given them a special consideration on providing relief food.
He commended government on the other hand for the continued effort to support other vulnerable people.
Sheik Kabu Lule the District Khadh asked government and other well-wishers to borrow a leaf from Uganda Muslim Supreme Council and lend support to religious leaders.
