Museveni’s Private Secretary Remanded for Fraud

A Senior State House official has been remanded to Kigo Prison until early next year, for allegedly attempting to use her office to fraudulently secure job opportunities for three people.

The suspect is Ms Caroline Kembabazi who is President Yoweri Museveni’s Assistant Private Secretary.

The 31-year-old resident of Kireka, in Kira Division was netted by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit.

She was remanded to Prison by the Buganda Road Chief Magistrates Court on charges of giving false information, contrary to Sec 115 of the Penal Code Act.

Prosecution told court that Kembabazi lied to officials at the Electoral Commission that she had been directed by the president to get three people hired by the Commission.

“Kembabazi, between the months of November and December 2020, being employed at the State House as the Assistant Private Secretary to the President in charge of poverty alleviation in Western Uganda, verbally gave false information to the Human Resources Officer Electoral Commission that the president assigned her to get employment for Magezi Kenneth, Muramuzi Duncan and Abomeire Ela as Assistant District Registrars whereas not,” the charge sheet reads in part.

Kembabazi was remanded to Kigo Prison until January 6th when the case will come up for mention.
