The Ministry of Health is set to mark the National day of physical activity due on 8th July 2018 at Kololo Independence grounds.

Physical activity is any form of bodily movement produced by skeletal muscles that requires energy expenditure.

“Physical inactivity is reported as the 4th leading risk factor for death in the world in every 4 adults 1 is not physically active enough,” she said.
The BeatNCD risk factor survey 2014 showed huge physical inactivity was noted in the urban population where 8 percent of adults were considered inactive compared to 3.5 percent of the rural population.
While addressing the media at the Ministry of Health Dr Aceng appealed to all organizations to dedicate an exercise day weekly/ monthly at their work places to encourage employees to embrace physical activity and be healthy.
“Dedicate at least 30 minutes or 1 hour every day to burn excess calories which should be combined with eating healthy; and eat more fruits.”
As part of the activity to mark national day of physical activity there will be an 8 – 10 km walk led by the president, aerobics, 5 laps run around the airstrip and several games from football to netball and basketball.
There also will also be screening for non-communicable diseases free of charge for the public.
