President Museveni has paid tribute to deceased Bushenyi philanthropist Zabulon Rushambuza.
In his condolence message read by Ms Mary Karooro Okurut, the Minister of General Duties, at the burial on Tuesday, the President said Rushambuza’s commitment to family values and nation building was unmatched.
“This regrettable death has robbed us of a great father, patriot, counsellor, citizen, seasoned farmer. As we grieve the death of a father, we also cerebrate his exceptional exemplary life which has been characterized by total commitment to family values and selfless service to this country as a whole,” Mr Museveni’s condolence message read in part.
Mr Museveni added that Canon Rushambuza faithfully executed his responsibility as a parent and nurtured his children to become responsible citizens.
“He served with diligence and humility. He was very patriotic and he supported government in all its efforts. He always put his country first ahead of his personal interests. Uganda has lost a great entrepreneur. Mzee’s passion for modernization has been one of the major aspects of his life. His knowledge and experience in modern methods of farming have been very important in promoting Uganda’s agriculture,” he said.
The President rallied Ugandans especially the young generation to emulate Rushambuza’s enviable legacy of hard work.
Rushambuza aged 93, succumbed to diabetes and hypertension at his home in Nyakabiriizi, Ishaka-Bushenyi Municipality on Sunday, according to his son, Mr Obadia Ntebekeine. Rushambuza was laid to rest at his home yesterday.
