President Yoweri Museveni has ordered Justice and Constitutional Affairs Minister, Kahinda Otafire not to ever again get former controversial Uganda Telecom Limited Administrator, Bemanya Twebaze near Privatization and Investments Minister, Evelyn Anite.
Museveni in a letter written to Otafire on November 9th 2019 acknowledged receiving his earlier letter pleading for the renewal of Bemanya’s contract. This website also has the copy of the said Otafire letter.
“I have received your letter of the 6th November, 2019, about the Administrator of Uganda Telecom Limited (UTL), whose time is expiring but you want to renew the contract,” said part of Museveni’s letter.
The President categorically mentioned that Bemanya was perennially being in conflict with Anite.
“Mr. Bemanya is always in conflict with Minister Anite. Hon. Anite is one of our very active Baijukuru,” added Museveni.
Museveni, in agreement with Finance Ministers’ resolution, said a new Administrator was needed for spirit of good working relationship.
“In the interests of cohesion, get another Administrator. It is easier that way. Going on with endless tension is not good management,” concluded Museveni.
At an Extraordinary General Meeting of Uganda Telecom Limited held on Friday November 8th 2019 at the Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development resolved that a new Administrator be obtained in accordance with the law following the lapse of the current Administrator’s tenure on November 22nd 2019.
This website understands that the Ministry of Finance has already considered three names of two men and a lady to replace Bemanya.
The three names, selected from 10 insolvency practitioners, have already been forwarded to security for screening according to knowledgeable sources.
