President Yoweri Museveni has ordered for the compensation of the families of the deceased and victims of the Uganda Cranes bus accident.
Museveni confirmed on Tuesday while meeting the Uganda Cranes, the She Cranes, She Pearls and national athletes at his country home in Rwakitura, Kiruhura district.
“Government will compensate the families of the deceased and the victims with one billion shillings,” he confirmed.
“The money will be given to Fufa to trace and compensate those that were involved in the accident,” the President further stated.
In 2015, the Uganda cranes bus returning from Soroti after meeting the President was involved in an accident at Jami trading centre along the Mbale-Tirinyi highway.
Some of the deceased include; Charles Mwima, Wahab Nakifuyi, Zainabu Nabusuyi and Samuel Kagulu among others.
In another development, the President also promised a new bus to the Uganda Cranes (the men’s national football team).
The Cranes are in preparation for the Championship of African Nations (CHAN) tournament that gets underway on 14th January in Morocco.
The team will have the final training session on Wednesday evening at African Bible University, Lubowa before the final team is named.
