President Yoweri Museveni has extended an invitation to former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi to attend the NRM Delegates Conference which is scheduled for this Friday.
Mbabazi will be attending the conference in Entebbe as a “special guest;” one of five that have been invited by the party chairman.
This revelation as made NRM’s Secretary General Justice Kasule Lumumba while appearing on UBC TV this morning.
Other special guests that have been invited are former Vice Presidents Dr. Specioza Wandira Kazibwe and Dr. Gilbert Bukenya, former Prime Minister Hon. Kintu Musoke and former Kampala Central MP Hon Francis Babu.
Lumumba says she received the list of the special guests from President Museveni in accordance with Article 12(2)P of the NRM Constitution, which gives the National Chairman the right to invite not more than 5 individuals who have made special contributions to the struggle to attend the NEC meeting.
“We shall be grateful to receive them as our special guests during NEC meeting,” Lumumba said.
The last time Hon Mbabazi attended the NRM Delegates Conference back in 2015, he was unceremoniously voted out as the party Secretary General and blocked from contesting against Museveni for the party flag in the 2016 elections.
He proceeded to run against the president in the general election, managing only 1.3% of the vote.
