Museveni: NRM is a Big Party

Mr. Museveni paid the tribute today during a thanksgiving service held on St. Paul’s day after whom the Cathedral is named.

The occasion was also used for the ceremony of the installation of officials of the Christian Men’s Fellowship.

The president commended them for their active role in the renovation of the Church and observed that they have done a good job especially on the roof and floor of the Cathedral.

He pledged a donation of Shs.100 million with on-spot delivery of Shs30 million to boost the Church projects.

He further thanked the Christians for collecting Shs.2.3 billion out of a target of Shs 2.5 billion for the renovation project.

Elton called upon the group of unemployed youth to stop just complaining to government but rather rise up and do something since they are the beginning of change.

Kenneth Kanyesigye a graduate of a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies urges that its high time the public realizes the need to engage in the private sector other than just expecting jobs from government.

“We should view education as the ability to generate livelihood and the knowledge that is acquired in schools should be put to use.”

Pastor Twinkle a parent noted that students should not study just with the aim of getting jobs but acquiring knowledge.

“We don’t study to get jobs but to acquire knowledge which can be converted into jobs, we should come to the realization that knowledge in power and a knowledgeable community will always prove to be powerful.”

Twinkle added that the problem with the current education system is that students nowadays just study to pass exams but not to acquire knowledge and that’s why a few have been able to set up private entities.

The President made the remarks this Sunday afternoon while officiating at the thanksgiving ceremony for the appointment of the new National Resistance Movement Team, led by the new Secretary General, Hon. Justine Kasule Lumumba.

Other members of the new NRM team that were appointed by the NRM National Chairman and approved by the Executive Organs of the Party include, Hon. Richard Todwong as Assistant Secretary General, Hon. Rose Namayanja, Treasurer, Hon. Dr. Kenneth Omona as Deputy Treasurer, Professor Tanga Odoi, Chairman NRM Electoral Commission and Jane Alimisera and Hon. John Kigyagi.

The colorful ceremony that took place at Bugiri district headquarters, was preceded by a thanksgiving Mass led by Rev. Fr. Balikudembe Waiswa assisted by Rev. Fr. Kayaga and also attended by, among others, the Speaker of Parliament, the Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga and her Deputy, the Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanya, Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, NRM representatives from all districts in Uganda, cultural as re well as religious leaders.

Others present included the Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Wafula Oguttu and the LC 5 Chairperson of Kamuli, Ms. Salam Musumba. The ceremony was also characterized by a lot of entertainment and dancing by invited guests.

The President who is also the National Chairman of NRM introduced the new office bearers to the huge gathering. He called on all Ugandans, especially the youth, to embrace the operation ‘wealth creation’ overseen by Army Officers whom he introduced and are in charge of the region. The Army Officers include Lt. Col. Dhamuzungu, Captain Gerald Andega, Major Paul Kisambira and Captain Musa Katende

The new Secretary General of NRM, Hon. Justine Kisule Lumumba, thanked God for the gift of life and His unending mercies. She also thanked God for the visionary leader, President Yoweri Museveni, who has turned round Uganda from a failed state to a flourishing democracy that the people of Uganda are today witnessing.

She pledged to deliver as manifested in the recent Busia district LC5 by-elections that saw the NRM flag bearer, Mr. Stephen Oundo Wanyama, win overwhelmingly.

The Chairman of the thanksgiving Organizing Committee, Major General (Rtd.) Kahinda Otafiire, thanked all supporters and well-wishers of NRM for turning up in big numbers to grace the ceremony.

He asked the new NRM team to ensure that they deliver in the 2016 National General Elections. He also called on Ugandans to solidly rally behind NRM and President Museveni because wananchi still have a lot to learn from the General.

“This is not the time to change the Captain of the ship,” he stressed.

Rev. Fr. Balikudembe, in his sermon, said NRM has chosen Hon. Justine Kisule and her team to be fishers of the people just like Jesus who chose his disciples to be fishers of men.

He urged Ugandans to live by the motto of the country ‘For God and My Country’.

Later President Museveni joined the new NRM team in cutting the cake made in a shape of a yellow bus.
