President Yoweri Museveni has once again extended the contract of Mr Ofwono Opondo, as the Executive Director of the Uganda Media Center, making him the longest serving government spokesman.
Opondo announced Monday that the president has extended his contract of service for a further three-year period effective today July 1st, 2019.
“It is with great gratitude to continue to serve the President, the Government and Citizens of Uganda,” Opondo tweeted.

Mr Opondo has been heading the Media Center since 2013, having replaced Fred Opolot.
His contract was renewed in November 2016.
Mr Opondo, a veteran journalist, also serves currently as the Deputy Spokesperson for the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
The Uganda Media center was opened in 2016 with the primary purpose of standardizing government communication. It was headed then by now Vision Group boss Robert Kabushenga.
The center provides a platform for government departments to disperse information on government policies, programmes and projects to the public through the media.
