The Anglican Diocese of Kigezi has received 20 heifers from President Yoweri Museveni under Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) program to boost its project aimed at eradicating poverty among Christians.
The heifers were handed over to the Bishop of the of Kigezi diocese, Rt. Rev. George Bagamuhunda by the National Agricultural Advisory Services-NAADS Coordinator, Bingana Mworozi.
Mworozi said at the hand over that the cows were requested from the president by the Church of Uganda last through Retired Archbishop Rt. Rev Stanley Ntagali.
On his part, Bishop Bagamuhunda thanked the government for the donation saying that it will help in improving the income of the Diocese as well as fighting poverty among Christians.
He said Kaharo, Kagunga and Mayengo parishes will each take two heifers each while 16 heifers will be given to 16 Christians in the diocese.
The beneficiaries including Jane Maganiro, Rachel Tumushangye and Patience Kyaringabira among others commended the government and the Church of Uganda for thr donation.
