Museveni Condemns “Lack of Democracy” in NRM

Rotary District 9211 is a group of young professionals belonging to the Rotary family aged 18-30 years, taking part in various community activities in their Rotaract Clubs in Uganda and Tanzania.

The Rotary Family Health Days are designated days when Rotarians together with their partners offer free medical services to less privileged communities.

The Rotary Family Health Days 2015, will go on across the country with 70 Rotary Clubs operating at over 100 sites offering free medical services.

The organizers have said that over 1,000 Rotarians will participate in RFHD 2015 reaching out to over 130,000 people, up from 113,366 treated in 2014.

Participating Rotary Clubs have procured partners to support their activities at the sites throughout the country.

Rotary has revealed that Centenary Bank Limited sponsored the RFHD 2015 with a contribution of 20 million Shillings towards purchase of cancer screening kits.

Furthermore, Ministry of Health has provided technical assistance through District Health Officers as well as provided essential drugs, logistical support and facilities.


During the launch. the District Governor commended the Rotarians in Uganda for the Rotary Family Health Days.

“This act truly reflects the Rotary spirit of Service,” Nsibirwa said.

In his opening remarks, the founder of the Rotary Family Health Days, Stephen Mwanje said, “it is always an enriching experience to serve humanity. Rotary is doing a fantastic job in improving the quality of life of fellow humans and we appreciate and commend the corporate organizations that have supported us in our efforts all these years.”


Held Under the theme, “ Be a Gift”, the Rotary Family Health Days are a signature program of Rotarians for Family Health & AIDS Prevention (RFHA).

Started in 2011, the program promotes healthy living and disease prevention by implementing a massive, annual campaign in Uganda, South Africa, Ghana and Nigeria.

The services include lifelong immunizations to children and comprehensive life-saving annual screens such as HIV, TB, Malaria, Diabetes, Hypertension and many others based on the needs of the community.

Two days ago, an NRM candidate in Sororti is said to have purchased and hidden a number of ballot boxes at a local restaurant ahead of the elections, only to be busted by police.

In Ssembabule, district party offices were set on fire by aggrieved supporters, while in Kanungu, an MP aspirant was battered in front of the party electoral chairman Dr Tanga Odoi during a meeting.

In neighboring Kabale, Minister Henry Banyenzaki at the beginning of this month was accused of kidnapping one of his opponents and vandalizing his car, days before a sub county NRM registrar resigned his job over threats from the same Minister.

President Museveni, while meeting with NRM leaders in Isingiro District yesterday strongly preached against this kind of sectarianism and blamed it on party leaders who he said had failed to promote democracy.”

“People have not yet learnt democracy and this is because of the weaknesses we have in the party,” he said.

The president who also the NRM chairman further observed that the level of lawlessness had gone up as a result of his newly appointed secretariat, which is committed to delivering results and transparency that hurts some people.

Museveni vowed to investigate all these cases of beating people and rigging votes and take action.

He was in the area to sensitize the masses on the UPDF led Operation Wealth Creation.
