JKL Dolphins are set to widen their area of operations, if we are to go with what was said in a press conference held on Friday morning at La Paroni Restaurant in Kampala.
JustKipLivin (stylised as JKL) Dolphins is majorly known as a Basketball Club with both Men and Women’s teams that compete in National Basketball League.
The club was founded in 2015 and enormous success has been registered already – JKL Dolphins (Men) reached the League semis and JKL Lady Dolphins (Women) clinched the title to end UCU-KCCA duopoly.
As a basketball team, they have set their targets and also decided to venture into other sports disciplines.
“We will introduce many other sports disciplines, we are adding a Netball team, and in the next five years we will be up there,” revealed Fredricks ‘Freedom’ Owora who has now taken up the role of a Technical manager at the club.
“We have a cricket partner, this is our first phase in our plans and we will add rugby and football as well.”
JKL has added more personnel to an already well established team.
Former Urban TV worker Dzyre Derekford Mugumisa was officially unveiled as the team’s Marketing, Promotions and Public Relations manager.
Dr. CPA Jeff Nyagenya is now the club president as former CEO Fredricks Owora is now the Technical Manager.
“We appointed Dzyre as our PR, he comes with experience that will enhance our brand. He will work closely with the club president,” commented Freedom.
Coach Kady Kabantu was also officially presented to the press. He had joined the club in April 2018. He had stints with Adidas Academy in Congo DR.
Club captain Brian Namake stated that the new developments at the club comes as extra motivation for them (as players) to perform better next season: “We are now going to play with purpose”.
The club unveiled their new logo to the members of the press which Dzyre revealed that they had to go with something which is very accommodative.
