In a bid to improve and uplift the standard of education in Uganda, MTN Uganda through its MTN Foundation has Tuesday donated computers to over 5 secondary schools in Mukono district.
Speaking during the donation ceremony held at Namilyango College, the state Minister for Sports said that ICT acts as a tool which enhances education and complements the teaching class.
Bakabulindi implored the young people to get interested in the wide range of resources that exist on the web as such platforms can complement research and lower the costs incurred on the purchase and printing of learning materials.
Bakkabulindi said that, “For schools which are going to receive the computer tools, this is the beginning of the long journey of knowledge and the accumulation of skills development,”
He also thanked MTN for giving back to the community and impacting many lives.
The 5 secondary schools which benefited from the project include; Namilyango College,Kasawo Secondary School, Sir Apollo Kaggwa senior secondary School, St. Charles Lwanga Senior Secondary School and Kasana Vocational School.
While making his remarks at the event, Sen Somdev, MTN Uganda Chief Marketing Officer said that its always a good idea when companies combine efforts to work together as a group in achieving a common goal.
“The journey to developing the Country is a shared one and that’s the reason partnerships are quite symbolic of the good that people, corporate companies and institutions of our country can do when we combine our efforts.”
He added that,”MTN Uganda is delighted to be part of such a noble initiative. Through our Corporate Social Responsibility arm; the MTN Foundation has and continues to be at the fore front of driving ICT literacy in Schools all over Uganda.
