MTN Uganda has today closed the MTN Kampala Marathon registration option through the mobile money.
The MTN MoMo platform has been open to the MTN Kampala Marathon registration process since 25th October 2018 when the MTN Marathon season was launched.
The decision has been taken not to extend that deadline in order to ensure that already registered participants can collect their kit before the stock runs.
“The process of Mobile Money registration has been incredibly successful. We’re closely watching stock levels to ensure that all registered participants get their kit ready for the marathon on Sunday. We’re now focussing on kit collection hence the plan and decision to stop new registrations through mobile money,” said Okecho, the Manager Corporate Communications at MTN Uganda.
Physical registration and kit collection are still ongoing at MTN Headquarters at the former BAT building, Stanbic Garden City, William Street, MTN Service Centres along Kampala Road, Lugogo Mall, Clock Tower, Forest Mall, and Victoria Mall in Entebbe. Physical registration costs UGX 25,000 per kit and will be ongoing while stock lasts.
Proceeds for the MTN Kampala Marathon are going to support the improvement of maternal health in Uganda.
“We would like to thank all those that have registered and encourage participants to run their race and the improvement of maternal health,” said Okecho.
The MTN Kampala Marathon takes place on Sunday, 25th November 2018 starting at the Kololo Airstrip.
The 42km, 21km and 5km categories will be flagged off at the Kololo, Upper Terrace while the 10km race flags off inside the Kololo airstrip.
