MTN 10Bn Mobile Money Case Judgement Set for Monday

Both teams will be meeting for the second time in a competitive game the other having ended one all at Kakindu stadium.

Andrew Basooma opened the scoring for the visitors while former CRO FC striker, story Ivan Lubaale announced his debut presence with a wonderful diving header for the equalizer.

Team stats

Sadolin have played 23 games accumulating 28 points standing on the 10th place while the day’s opponents are 5th with 37 points after 24 games.

Bul FC have collected a total of 15 points from 11 away games two points higher(13)  than the painters have attained in their own backyard after the same number of games. The Bugembe side, visit at home, has been involved in only 13 goals [conceding 8 and scoring 5], the lowest in the whole division.

Both teams have each recorded seven draws, only URA FC (8) and Bright Stars (9) have more.

Asiku Crespo is Bul’s all-time [he has five this season] leading top scorer with 26 goals, with 18 from headers.

Since their promotion to the Premier League three years ago, Bul FC has not lost to a promoted team.

The rivals have both won three of their five league games; drawing one and losing one, but this fact does not bother Bul Fc interim manager, who feels he is set despite the hosts’ form.

“I am not interested in knowing how good their [Sadolin] current run in form but it’s an important game for us as BUL and we deserve to get three points there and it’s our strategy. I want after the 90 minutes to credit my technical team, my players as well as the administrators and that’s all!” he told the club media.

His counterpart told Chimpreports that he will just take it like any other game where he needs maximum points, “We shall take the game easy but they should not expect easy time. We need all the points,”- Coach Abdu Swamadu Msafiri,” he said
Team news

If selected, Magombe Hakim will be facing his former side where he crossed to join Bul fc while Peter Katumba and Suudi will be up against their former pay masters.

“I know all of them and I know how to play them when we meet.”- A confident Peter Katumba told our reporter.

Sadolin captain Allan Oryieki is expected back to the first team after recovering from a knee injury.

For BUL FC, Johnson Lumansi is still out with a knee injury while Ivan Lubale is recovering from an ankle injury and will have to pass a late fitness test if he is to be selected. Ssemogere will be back from a one match ban for the hosts after sitting out in the 3-0 loss at URA FC, as both Tito Okello and Milton Karisa are also back from suspensions.

Ronald Lukungu is expected back to the starting lineup for the painters while Bul’s vice-captain, Herbert Kakande and Robert Achema may start the game due to their vast experience.

Key battles:

The main battle will be between Oringa Franco’s ability to stop most of the long range and setpiece goals from Sadolin’s midfield while onform centre back, Otong William must manage a tricky Fred Sseguja who has so far scored four goals and assisted four.

The last area of concern for the visitors will be how to prevent an unpredictable peter Katumba from distributing the balls upfront and to the wings that is the reason Kakande will be involved to frustrate him.

Possible team lineups

Sadolin Paints fc- Muhammed Didi (G.K); Junior Mukisa, Ssemogerere, Paul Kisige, Moses Kibirige, Ronald Lukungu, Peter Katumba, Frank Ssentamu, Anthony Bwaize, Fred Ssegujja And Tadeo Mwakise.

BUL FC; Oringa Franco (GK), Hakim Magombe, Otong Wiliam, Abdul Mayanja, Phillip Sempira, Hashim Sempala, Herbert Kakande, Osama Farouk, Robert Achema , Crespo Asiku (Capt), Hood Mayanja,

My prediction: Draw 0-0 or 1-1.

The Anti-corruption court in Kololo has adjourned to Monday April 27, recipe for the judgment of the case in which 6 of Telecom giants MTN Uganda’s former employees are accused of defrauding money amounting to Shs 10.2 billion in 2011.

Former MTN top employees implicated in the gross scandal include Patrick Sentongo the then telecom company’s Finance Manager, Joan Nabugwawo a cashier/agent, and Brian Okurut, the then Revenue Assurance Analyst.

Others are Richard Mwami who at that time was MTN’s Head of Public Access [Overall Mobile Money boss], Angella Ayo and Eriya Baryamwijuka, who were assistant revenue analysts.

The accused are said to have conspired, taking advantage of what termed as a ‘bogus’ MTN Mobile Money computer system, [known in the company as “fundamo”], to create nonexistent e-money [float], to a tune of Shs 10.2 billion, which they wired to their own formulated accounts and cashed it, before resigning from their jobs but were later busted and reported to police.

In his evidence, MTN’s former head of the NIS department Praise Lubega told court of how he had liaised with police detectives to screen the breached so-called fundamo and obtained documented evidence pinning the accused.

Court also heard that the accused, led by Patrick Sentongo created e-money [float] on the MTN Adjustment for Discrepancy Account using fraudulently generated journal entries, before wiring it to the Dispute Account and later cashing it in a number of denominations through Joan Nabugwawo.

Justice Lawrence Gidudu today, Tuesday told both sides that the judgment was not ready and  set Monday  as the date  he will be ready with it.
