Mpigi: 14-Year-Old Girl Beaten To Death For Slaughtering Chicken

Police in Mpigi district is investigating circumstances under which a 14-year-old girl identified as Moreen Kusasira was killed in Natwala village, Kiringente sub county.

It is alleged that the deceased’s 72-year-old grandmother identified as Nakaweesi Pasitanziya returned from a village function and found Kusasira had slaughtered a chicken and served it to other siblings.

According to Police spokesperson Fred Enanga, Nakaweesi’s son identified as Julius Kyomuhendo was tasked with the responsibility of punishing Kusasira (now deceased) who beat her mercilessly and later succumbed to injuries at Mulago hospital.

“The son of this old woman called Kyomuhendo Julius, 16-year-old got a cane and started caning this girl repeatedly about more than 50 strokes. He went on to start kicking her around on the lower abdomen and other parts of the body,” Enanga said.

The victim was then rushed to Mpigi health center in an unconscious state from where she was transferred to Mulago hospital where she died.

Enanga confirmed the arrest of the grandmother, her son Julius Kyomuhendo and other suspects involved in the crime.

“We have the grandmother and all the members including the mother of the victim together with Kyomuhendo Julius and we are investigating them for murder,” said Enanga.
