The head of Police’s Criminal Investigations, Grace Akullo has summoned Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake to appear at the Police CID headquarters in Kibuli to be questioned on his alleged involvement in events that culminated in the election violence in Arua district in August.
Hon Zaake will also be questioned on his alleged escape from Police custody shortly after his arrest in Arua.
The MP was ordered to report at the CID offices next week on Wednesday November 21 before the Deputy Director CID.
Zaake along with 35 other people is facing Treason charges before the Gulu Chief Magistrates Court.
In addition, the Mityana MP is further accused of escaping from Police custody in Arua.
The MP unlike his co-accused has never been in court to respond to these charges, owing to his medical condition at the time.
Shortly before he left the country to get medical treatment abroad in September, he was formally charged with the two offences and granted police bond.
He was supposed, as per the bond terms, to appear before the CIID on October 2nd.
He however did not return from treatment until October 10th.
Mrs Akullo in the letter to the MP said he would be guided on the next course of action once he appears before the Deputy Director CID.
