MP Susan Namaganda Injured in Deadly Road Accident

The first Kakindu (Jinja) derby of the season perhaps presents an intriguing point for Bul Fc fans to critically assess the sort of progress that they have made after spending heavily in the season when they face a cash-strapped but high-flying JMC Hippos on Friday.

Major Patrice Ajiku, side effects a UPDF officer working as an Aide De Camp to the Director General of Internal Security Organization (ISO) was yesterday called as the first Prosecution witness to pin Private Emilly Katabazi, the former aide to Amama Mbabazi  accused of absenting himself from work.

Prosecution alleges that between 21st and 27th of May 2015, while deployed at the ISO headquarters in Nakasero, Katabaazi without authority left office and went to diverse places in Jinja, Mbale, Soroti, Lira, Gulu, Arua and Yumbe districts which was against the discipline of the UPDF.

It is further alleged by prosecution that while in these places without proper authorization from the UPDF,  Katabazi made public speeches thereby contravening rule 2 (1) of Code of Conduct for the Defense Forces.

Katabaazi was working as a research officer in the office of the Prime Minister where he was later discharged from before his one and half contract period ended.

“Private Katabazi was sent back to ISO from OPM on grounds that there was no more work for him. On returning to ISO as is our routine Katabazi was put on the redeployment pending list on which he is still up to present,” submitted Ajiku in his testimony before the General court martial chaired by  Maj General Levi Karuhanga.

Ajiku added however, that during this time officers from various parts of the country made reports to the Director General ISO inquiring whether he was aware of Katabazi’s activities in their areas.

“The Regional ISO officer for Western Region quoted a letter from District Security Officer( DISO) Yumbe  inquiring from him whether he knew about Katabazi’s mobilization activities and meeting people in his jurisdiction,” added Ajiku.

Ajiku informed court that he got to know about all this information because among his duties is to assist the Director General in day to day activities like Finance, administration as well as managing Human Resource.

Court martial Chairman Maj Gen Elly Karuhanga adjourned the hearing of this case to 20thJanuary 2016 when he is expected to pronounce the court ruling on Katabazi’s bail application.
Bukomansimbi Woman MP, mind Susan Namaganda is in critical condition following a road accident on Thursday night, ask Chimp Corps report.

This was revealed by her husband and East Africa Legislative Assembly MP, Mukasa Mbidde.

“Hon Susan Namaganda together with two others have had the vehicle they were travelling in knocked off the road along Mpigi by a yet an unknown vehicle,” said Mbidde in a brief statement.

“She is in critical condition here at Nakasero Hospital,” he added.

Mbidde did not reveal whether the accident claimed any lives.

Police officials whom we contacted early Friday morning said they were yet to get a full briefing on the incident.
