MP Kabaziguruka Taken to High Court

Nakawa Municipality MP Michael Kabaziguruka has Friday arrived at the Kampala High Court for the hearing of a petition challenging his trial on charges related to subversion by the Court Martial.

Justice Patricia Basazze on April 19 issued a production warrant to Kigo Prisons to produce Kabaziguruka at the High Court after his lawyer Ladislaus Rwakafuzi s said as a civilian the lawmaker should not be tried by a military court.

The FDC MP expressed his worry that the court martial whose members are elected by the Commander in Chief (President) can’t deliver justice in this trial.

The MP was remanded to Kigo prisons after being charged alongside 23 others with treason charges at Makindye General court martial chaired by Lt Gen Andrew Gutti.

In previous interviews, information pills Kabaziguruka has denied participating in subversive activities.

But President Museveni was recently quoted as saying Kabaziguruka at one time invaded the former’s upcountry residence to harm him.
