Morley Byekwaso Names 46-man Squad for U20 AFCON Qualifiers

Uganda Hippos National Football Team head coach Morley Byekwaso has summoned a squad of 46 players that will begin preparations for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations Zonal Qualifiers.

The provisional squad of six goalkeepers, thirteen defenders, ten midfielders and sixteen strikers will enter the camp today on Saturday, 31st October 2020.

Roving left back Aziz  Kayondo, (Vipers SC), Musa Ramathan (KCCA FC), Gavin Kizito Mugweri (SC Villa), Steven Serwadda (KCCA FC), Bobosi Byaruhanga (Vipers SC), and Ivan Eyam (Mbarara City) are some of the players with Uganda Premier League experience called for national team duties.

Also, Alpha Ssali, a Proline Football Club Soccer Academy scribe and son to renowned musician Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool has also been named in the roster.

According to FUFA, all players and coaching staff will undergo a mandatory COVID-19 test before entering camp.

The team will start training from Sunday 1st to Wednesday 4th November, 2020 at IUIU Campus, Kabojja and will later shift to FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru where they will have a residential camp up to 19th November 2020.

Uganda was pitted in group B against Burundi, Eritrea and South Sudan. The Zonal qualifiers will be take place in Tanzania from 22nd November to 6th December 2020.
