The organizers of Miss Tourism Uganda have Thursday this week announced that Juliana Giselle Nikol, Miss Tourism World will be in the Country in a few weeks’ time.
The beauty queen, who will arrive in the Country in September 17, 2019 in company of Miss Tourism Nigeria and Miss Tourism Croatia, will not just be gracing the Miss Tourism Uganda crowning event, but as well do an excursion of Uganda’s tourism attractions.
This was revealed during the unveiling of Humura Safari as one of the sponsors which has come on board to support the initiative.
The event saw Humura announce a Shs46,300,000M sponsorship towards Uganda’s tourism development through the Miss Tourism Uganda Foundation.
The 7th edition of Miss Tourism Uganda, under the theme “African pride” kicked in June 10, 2019 at Sheraton hotel in Kampala.
Ever since then,regional events have been happening with the first one being in Karamoja,followed by Teso,Busoga and Tooro regions.
The regional activations will also see the events cover Kigezi,Ankole,Rwenzori,Nothern,Buganda and Westnile regions respectively.
This will then climax with a grand finale that will be held at the Kampala Serena conference center in October 4, 2019 where 24 contestants from 12 different regions will be represented.
Miss Tourism Uganda’s main aim is to promote, honor & advance the position of women in promoting Uganda’s Tourism destinations that offer a wide range of unique and adventurous Tourism experience both locally and internationally.
To be able to fulfill its vision, Miss Tourism Uganda has partnered with both the government and private sector for the successful realization of its vision.
Government bodies involved in the foundation include; Ministry of tourism Wildlife and antiquities, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Uganda Wildlife Education center and Kampala capital city authority.
The private institutions include Uganda Tourism Association and Kampala Serena hotel.
While addressing Journalists on Thursday this week at the Tourism Ministry offices in Kampala, Allan Bwete Kanyike, CEO Miss Tourism Uganda said that people have been concerned on why the foundation carries out regional campaigns in 12 different regions.
“This is done to extend tourism experience to the people right from the grass roots and lay a platform for the locals to embrace tourism as part of their business and responsibility.
After the media launched, Miss Tourism kicked off with regional activations in the 12 regions that are led by cluster heads. As of today, 4 regions have so far crowned their regional ambassadors who will represent their respective regions at the nationals,” he said.
He also revealed that after the regional activations and selecting the 36 regional ambassadors, they will officially arrive for boot camp on September 9 at Uganda Wildlife Education center.
Kanyike also added that all the all the 36 girls will be unveiled to the public and Miss Tourism Uganda in September 13, 2019
Sam Asasiira, Director Humura Safari said that the company has not only offered financial support to Miss Tourism Uganda, but is ready to work with them in impacting skills to the beauty queens in a bid to improve majorly; Tour and guide skills, hospitality and equipping them with necessary antiquities skills on how to market Uganda.
