Minister Kitutu Appeals for Cheaper Gases for Domestic Use

The Minister of Energy and Mineral Development Hon Mary Goretti Kitutu has asked players in the oil and gas sector to provide price friendly Liquefied Petroleum Gases (LPG) solutions to local people so as to reduce deforestation in the country.

Speaking at the commissioning of the new office block at Total head offices in Kampala, Kitutu noted that if Gas is made cheaper fewer people will remain on biomass hence saving the environment

“Since people still have the phobia of using Gas , let at least  all employees of companies in oil and gas  like Total and Ministry of Energy adopt the use of LPG gas in our homes  to act as an example for the rest,”she said.

Kitutu applauded Total for putting in place over 200 fuel stations in the country which have provided employment to many Ugandans on top of providing revenue to the country.

“We thank you for your tremendous efforts especially during the lockdown because the country never ran out of fuel despite the numerous challenges that arouse.”
