State Minister of Planning David Bahati has blamed a number of factors for the delayed distribution of bicycles and motorcycles to the local National Resistance Movement leadership as had been promised.
Bahati, who is also the NRM Chairperson of Kabale district over the weekend said Covid 19 restrictions had caused the delays in distribution of the bicycles to the village chairpersons and motorcycles to the sub county heads especially in western Uganda.
Besides, this being the election season, the minister said the party didn’t wish to appear to be bribing people by handing out the transport means.
He said however, that once the election season is over, distribution will commence.
Bahati was on Saturday speaking at the launch of the door to door NRM campaigns in Kabale district at Arcadia Cottages.
During the meeting, the minister urged asked the party candidates and supporters to avoid crowds during the campaigns because of Covid19, and to instead to focus on door to door campaigning while observing ministry of health standard operating procedures.
