Four villages of Nyakinengo, Geitamba, Kaiho and Kaigoshora in Rubaya sub county, Mbarara district are set to benefit from a Government and ADB funded solar powered water supply project.
The Shs 366 million project was finally handed over to the contractor, after thirty months of waiting.
Speaking at the project launch in Nyakinengo, the Mbarara district chairperson Capt John Bosco Bamuturaki Tumusiime urged the contractors to provide quality work and to report anyone seeking bribes.
“Report any bperson in my office if he/she asks for the bribe, because in Mbarara we do not tolerate that” he said.
The project was contracted to Globally Applied Technology (GAT) Company.
Mbarara district councilor representing Rubaya sub county Steven Bareebire asked the contractor to make use of the available casual labour from the community where the water project is being implemented to help local communities earn something from it, which he said will give them a sense of ownership.
