Mbarara Set To Host This Year’s Tourism Day

This year’s World Tourism Day is set to be celebrated on the 27th in Ankole sub-region, decease Mbarara district at Kakyeka stadium, prescription having been in the northern Lira district last year.

Junior Tourism Minister Hon Godfrey Kiwanda Ssubi told press at the Media Center on Tuesday that the celebrations are geared toward marketing Uganda as major tourist destinations and also encourage internal tourism.

As such, symptoms the minister launched a program dubbed Weekend Escape “Tulambule” in which Ugandans are encouraged to visit local tourist destinations.

The program is to ensure that locals visit different regions and experience the uniquely packaged tourism attractions. The ministry is also working with the private sector including tour operators and hoteliers to make this affordable to those interested.

“They will be setting off from Kampala on Friday 25th, well guided by tour guides and secured by tourism police. On Saturday, they will participate in a number of activities designed by the ministry, UWA, UTB and cluster leaders,” said the minister.

“They will visit places Lake Mburo National Park, where a golf tournament and tourism exhibition will be held. There will also be a major street bash on Saturday all activities will end on Sunday.”
