Mbarara City came from a goal down to register a 2-1 against the reigning Uganda Premier League champions KCCA FC at Kakyeka Stadium on Tuesday evening.
Ibrahim Orit and Swalik Bebe Ssegujja scored for the Ankole Lions while Sam Ssenyonjo scored KCCA FC’s only goal as they lost for the third time in the league this season.
Ssenyonjo put KCCA ahead after 18 minutes with a well-timed header to beat goalkeeper Muhammed Ssekebba courtesy of Kezironi Kizito’s chip.
However, after just 11 minutes Orit headed home from close range after a well-deliverance from Brian Aheebwa to bring the game on level terms.
Five minutes into the second half, KCCA FC custodian Charles Lukwago deniedBrian Aheebwa from close range before denied Pistis Barenge from distance six minutes later.
The visitors finally took the control of the game when midfielder Bebe Swalik Ssegujja got a stunning long-range effort into the roof of the net which Lukwago couldn’t save whatsoever.
A win means that Mbarara City registered a memorable home win which took them to 9th on the 16 team log with 19 points.
Meanwhile, this was KCCA’s third loss of the season which left them fourth on the table with 26 points from 13 matches.
The Mike Mutebi coached side will play their last two games of the first round at StarTimes Stadium Lugogo against SC Villa and Proline on Friday November 29th and Tuesday November 3rd respectively.
