Mbarara City Football Club has released two players in their preparation for the forthcoming 2020/2021 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season.
The Ankole Lions have decided to end business with defender Bashir Muweesi and Steven Kabuye as coach Brian Senyondo shapes next season’s squad.
Kabuye had ran out of contract with the Kakyeka based outfit and the club was not willing to extend his stay in Mbarara while Muweesi’s contract was terminated.
The development was confirmed in a statement released by the club’s communication department signed by CEO Nobert Semusu on Friday.
“Following the expiry of his contract, Stephen Kabuye will not renew his contract with the team and have mutually agreed to terminate the contract of our player Bashir Muweesi.”
“We thank both players for their services for the time they were with us and wish then the very best in future,” read the statement.
Muweesi joined the Ankole Lions from Kampala Regional League side Katwe United at the start of last season while Kabuye joined from Bulemeezi Ssaza Football Team.
The two join midfielder Ibrahim Orit who departed Mbarara City for Vipers Sports Club while striker Brian Aheebwa is on the verge of signing for KCCA FC.
