Mbarara City FC has suspended their first choice goalkeeper Ali Kimera after a horrible show that gifted SC Villa two goals in a league game
on Wednesday night.
The veteran goalkeeper committed two horrific errors that were easily put away by Albert Mugisa and Ronald Magwali.
The keeper was reportedly saved by police after the game from the wrath of angry fans who were baying for his blood after the tie.
The fans strongly suspect that Kimera’s errors were not natural but match-fixing.
Club management led by their chairman and major shareholder Hon. Mwiine Mpaka decided to suspend the keeper together with his goalkeeping coach Yusuf Ssenyonjo as they investigate the claims.
“The Club Chairman of Mbarara City FC has taken a decision to give Goal Keeper Ali Kimera and Goal Keeping Coach Mr. Yusuf Ssenyonjo an
indefinite suspension pending the Board’s Decision as we settle the acrimony arising from today’s match against Sports Club Villa,” their Public Relations Officer Osborn Mushabe confirmed.
The statement further added: “In the due course, both Kimera and Ssenyonjo are not supposed to appear anywhere near the club premises,
camp, training ground etc until the Board has pronounced itself on the matter.”
Kimera has been an integral part of the team’s successful run that has seen them perch in the top four for long periods.
He has also won several man of the match accolades on the way.
The win lifted SC Villa by a place to 12th with 26 points, six above relegation as Mbarara maintained their fourth with 41.
