Mbarara City has continued to beef up their squad ahead of the 2019-20 season with yet another addition.
This time, the team has acquired the services of former Kirinya Jinja SSS goalkeeper Tom Ikara on loan from KCCA.
Ikara, who was in the western Uganda side to seal the deal agreed to a one year stay with an option of moving permanently.
“Goal Keeper Tom Ikara has joined us at Mbarara City on a Season-Long Loan from KCCA,” the club announced in an official statement on Friday night.”
They also revealed that: “We hope to sign him permanently after next season. Ikara will be our 1st Choice Goal Keeper and will don Shirt Number 1.”
The keeper will take over from veteran Ali Kimera who was offloaded on accusations of match-fixing.
He is expected to join the team shortly after returning from Rwanda where he will play for his parent club KCCA in the Cecafa Kagame cup.
Ikara was named the most valuable goalkeeper in the Fufa Big League 2015-16 season after guiding Kirinya to the topflight and also won the championship.
He was shortlisted in the Uganda Premier League best goalkeepers in the 2016-17 seasons.
