At least two people were on Sunday killed in a fatal accident in Biharwe along Mbarara-Masaka road.
This accident involved a Kampala bound Global Coaches Bus Registration number UBE 970Q which collided with a Toyota Premio, killing two of the latter’s passengers.
The driver of the Premio identified as Stephen Akankwasa is still nursing injuries at Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital.
According to the Rwizi regional Police spokesperson ASP Samson Kasasira, the preliminary police investigations indicate that the crash was caused by reckless driving on the side of the Premio driver who was overtaking and ended up ramming into the bus coach that had even gone off the road trying to avoid him.
The deceased are Melon Akankunda, 30, who died on spot and Jonan Masereka aged 23, who died on arrival at Mbarara Regional referral hospital.
“None of the passengers on the bus were injured”, Kasasira added.
Both motor vehicles were towed to Mbarara Central Police Station.
