The Prime Minister of Buganda Charles Peter Mayiga has called upon Ugandans to be responsible especially when it comes living healthy lives.
While addressing the gathering at Lubiri grounds Mengo on Sunday afternoon after the Kabaka’s Birthday Run, Mayiga said most people have a lot of expectations and ambitions ahead but can not guarantee they will live achieve them.
“You need to test for Sickle cells before getting married.There is no way you can realize your future plans when you are not healthy so ‘mwebereremu,” he said
The premier also asked all people of Buganda to remain peaceful as they wait for the main celebrations which will be held in Bugerere sub county for Kabaka’s 64th Birthday.
Dr Diana Atwiine the Permanent secretary Ministry of Health applauded Buganda Kingdom for prioritizing health which has helped many Ugandans to realise their health status as far as sickle cells is concerned
“People should ensure that they go for screening at various at various health centres where this service has been put in place” Atwiine said.
Various people who attended this year’s Kabaka’s run had an opportunity to test for Sickle cells free of charge.
