Probably the most watched and followed sporting event in the central region, Masala Cup, has received a major sponsorship package.
Leading commercial microfinance Bank in Uganda, Centenary Bank, has announced a Sh70 million sponsorship package for the famous tourney.
The 14th edition of the masaza cup is scheduled to kick off in Kabulasoke on June 23rd, with Gomba playing host to the visiting Buwekula in a game the Kabaka of Buganda His Majesty Ronald Muwenda Mutebi will grace.
The sponsorship package was announced during the tournament’s launch on Thursday at Bulange, Mango.
Speaking during the launch, Centenary Bank’s Managing Director Mr. Fabian Kasi noted that the initiative is majorly intended to give back to the people, who have supported Centenary from the start.

This is reflected in our commitment made last year to sponsor the event
to a tune of UGX 210 Million for the next three years, because we believe in the unifying effect of sport. Masaza Cup Returns with formidable Changes
Unlike in the past tourneys, this year, the Masaza Cup teams have been grouped irrespective of their geographical locations.
Any player who gets two yellow cards in consecutive games, will be forced to sit out one game.
No player shall be allowed to festure in the Masaza cup tournament for more than four editions.
Also, the U17 national team players shall be eligible to play.
However, anyone summoned to feature for the U20, U23 national teams, and those with licences in the FUFA big league shall not be eligible to take part.
