Masaka Murder Suspects Get 40 Years In Jail

Makindye General Court Martial has sentenced to 40 years in jail, two out of the seven men accused of engaging in murder and robbery at Muto hardware in Masaka district.

The two, who were also accused of terrorizing Masaka residents with machetes, pleaded guilty to the charges before they were sentenced.

Jumba Derrick and Bukenya Kiiza, both residents of Masaka district admitted the murder of one Moses Musinguzi and Shafique Kiggundu Saako and also robbing 435 million shillings.

In July this year, the suspects are said to have attacked Muto Complex hardware in Masaka and killed 2 people and robbed the money.

The court chairman Lt Gen Andrew Gutti ruled that while the accused didn’t waste court’s time, they were involved in the murder of two innocent people.

He thus handed them 40 years on the 2 charges, which are two run concurrently
