Mark Ssali Appointed UNRA Mouthpiece

Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) board has appointed sports pundit Mark Ssali as the Authority’s head of corporate and communications  in the ongoing mass restructuring.

Ssali replaces Dan Alinange, buy who was among the 80 workers released by the Authority in its first major shakeup in June, since Alen Kagina took over as the Executive Director. Later last month, the Authority terminated contracts of all its 900 employees and asked them to reapply.

Mark Ssali is a celebrated sports columnist with Daily Monitor and also a football commentator with the South African based Super Sports.

He’s been a sports journalist since 1997, who made his name with the famous Mark my Word Column.  He has also worked with Radio One, and Power FM, as well as WBS Television before joining the now defunct GTV.

Two days ago, in the ongoing restructuring exercise, UNRA appointed 8 directors to take over its key management positions.

In a statement issued by the authority’s Executive director, Allen Kagina, the board chose Mary Kutesa, as director legal and board affairs, Samuel Muhoozi as director of roads and bridges development and Isaac Wani as director of road maintenance.

Others are Mathias Ofumbi- director of procurement, Moses Kasakya- director of internal audit, Jennifer Kagwa as director human resources and Edna Rugumayo as director of corporate services.
