Rukiga County MP Jack Sabiiti has insisted he is still a strong member of the opposition Forum for Democratic Change despite his praises for President Yoweri Museveni when the latter visited his constituency recently.

The FDC stalwart made the remarks on Tuesday while speaking to our reporter in a phone interview.

“Development knows no political colors. That’s why you saw me around the same president Museveni we are fighting as a party.”
“I left the NRM party in 2005 and no one asked me to join FDC, which I have served as treasurer until late last year.”
Sabiiti says his work was very much commended by the president, who observed that his constituency had developed faster than many others in the region.
At the rally he held at Nyeikunama primary school Rukiga County, Museveni showered praises to the FDC member.
Rumors had started spreading that Sabiiti was next in line of those poised to cross to the ruling party ahead of the 2016 general elections

The deceased has been identified as Doreen Babirye a resident of Bamunanika in Luwero district.
Residents say the girl was sent to the well by his father and she spent hours playing with friends, sparking hi father’s outrage.
When she returned, the angry Kikomeko pounced on her asking what had taken her so long. The deceased replied that there was a long queue at the well, so she could not get the water in time.
Her pleas for forgiveness fell on deaf ears as the irate father beat her up till she was unconscious.
Neighbors who later came for rescue rushed her to hospital but she died on the way.
Police was called in to rescue the girl’s father, on whom a mob had descended with sticks, for murdering an innocent girl.
Neighbors to this family report that the girl’s father had a mental problem and he was two years back served with documents that clearly show this.
“We are going to take him for medical examination before we charge him, but currently he is under custody at Luwero police station,” said Lamech Kigozi the police spokesperson Savanah region.
