High Court in Kampala has sentenced a man to 11 years in jail after voluntarily accepting the charge of Aggravated robbery against him.
The convict, Innocent Matsiko was accused along with two others of gun theft.
According to prosecution, Masiko and his co-accused on 28th August last year, stole a gun and bullets from one Karuhanga Hanington after hitting him with a brick on the head.
These are also said to have proceeded to steal a number of items including a 55-inch Television.
The trial judge Abodo was presented with documents indicating that Matsiko signed a plea bargaining agreement in which he sought a lenient sentence.
On being read the charges he pleaded guilty and he informed the judge that he was thoroughly informed about plea bargaining
“My lord I accepted the agreement voluntarily without being forced or persuaded by anybody ” he said.
The judge in her ruling said the convict will serve the sentence in Fort Portal as he requested. She noted that the fact that this is a long sentence, he deserves to serve it in an area where his relatives can easily visit him
