The Uganda Peoples Défense Forces belonging to the 19th Battalion of Kabale under the command of Lt. Col Robert Nahamya on Thursday evening nabbed a man who was trying to sneak narcotics to Covid-19 patients currently admitted at Kabale regional referral Hospital.
Gogo Gurudev, a resident of Kibikura Cell, in the Northern Division of Kabale Municipality was arrested at the gate of the isolation unit of the Hospital upon being checked by the deployed soldiers.
The army say the suspect had been disguising as a friend of one of the Covid-19 patients admitted, claiming he was visiting them with a package of bread and mineral water.
However, when the soldiers checked his package, they discovered marijuana, a matchbox and roasted ground nuts among other substances in the bag.
The suspect claims to have received narcotics from Kenyan driver Babu Umar who was heading to Kisoro District.

Kabale regional referral Hospital has ten Covid-19 patients in admission. Three others have since been discharged after healing from the disease
