Police in Kampala is investigating a fire in which one person was burnt to ashes in Namugongo on the outskirts of Kampala city.
According Kira division Police, the accident happened Friday night at around 0100hrs.
“Kira Division Police Commander received information that there was fire outbreak at a drinking and pork joint, Kigambo, opposite the Catholic Shrine at Namugongo in Kira Municipality Wakiso District,” said Luke Owoyesigire the deputy KMP spokesperson
“Fire Brigade arrived at the scene and put out the fire and the scene of crime team combed the spot.”
He says the team found a male person had been burnt to ashes.
The Deceased was later identified by relatives as; Emmanuel Bahati, 28, a casual labourer and resident of that same address. The deceased roasted pork at the same area.
Preliminary reports indicate that the deceased was asleep at the time the kiosk caught fire.
The body was taken to city mortuary Mulago for postmortem.
The cause of fire is not yet established.
Five other kiosks were burnt to ashes.
