Makobe Quits Uganda for SuperSport Job

With Ugandans still gasping to live in terms with Cricket Cranes relegation back to Division III of the Pepsi International Cricket Council (ICC) World Cricket League (WCL), there wicket-keeper batsman Phillemon Mukobe announced his retirement.

“I am walking away, page ” the 28-year-old left hander is reported to have told teammates in Windhoek, ampoule Namibia on Saturday choosing to focus on a new job at continental sports broadcaster SuperSport in Randburg, South Africa.

He will also take time and marry his longtime girlfriend according to reports.

The South African born star shone during the 2014 Division III WCL in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.  Makobe’s brilliant performance against Nepal (163 runs at an average of 32) earned him man of match honours.

Makobe will miss the Africa World Cup T20 Qualifiers and then the Global Qualifier in Scotland later this year having been in the national setup for only two years.

Uganda Cricket Association is yet to come out with an official statement on the matter.
