Makerere’s Kiyimba Suubi Joins Social Media, Receives Gifts

Ssuubi Henry Kiyimba, a Makerere University freshman who was cyberbullied on his arrival at the campus days ago, has this afternoon received an assortment of gifts that were pledged by different well-wishers on social media.

Kiyimba drew widespread sympathy after a photo of him carrying a metal case to his hall of residence on his first day, was shared and mocked online.

A support campaign geared by big social media influencers including senior broadcasters Allan Kasujja and Cedrick Babu ensued, in which different kinds of items were pledged to the youngster.

Some of the gifts that were delivered to him at the campus on Friday included a brand new laptop, a suitcase, clothes and an undisclosed amount of cash.

Meanwhile Suubi has since joined social media.
