Makerere University has announced dates when it will be opening for finalist students in line with President Museveni’s directives to educational institutions in the country.
According to the circular dated 26th May 2020, addressed to Principals of Colleges, Head of Departments and Dean of schools, the university will open on Saturday 20th June 2020 and close on 7th August 2020 as agreed upon by the by members of Makerere University COVID19 task force which sat on 25th May 2020.
In this circular the heads of department were given guidelines which include providing the office of Vice Chancellor with a list of all finalist students with their telephone contacts
Schools which haven’t been teaching online have been asked to reveal the amount of time required to have them complete the course content.
The head will be required to provide a list of public health control requirements and planning for acquisition.
” This Information should reach the office of Vice Chancellor by mid-day Friday 29th May 2020.”
In March after Uganda registered its first Case of COVID19 , the president issued a number of directives among which was to close churches and education institutions which bring together many people.
However in his recent address to the nation , President Museveni relaxed some of the lockdown measures and ordered that education institutions will only open for candidates and finalists as he asked others to wait for the situation to normalize.
