Reggae fans should be delighted to know that Uganda’s sensational reggae icon Maddox Ssematimba real name David Amon Ssematimba will be holding a concert in October 4 at Sheraton Hotel gardens.
The concert dubbed ‘The Legend’ comes after years of him performing locally in bars and small functions.
While addressing Journalists last week at UBL head offices in Luzira, the legendary singer said that his fans have been over demanding for a concert.
“The Legend comes as a result of friends and my many of my fans asking as to when I will do yet another concert after many years.”
As to why he took long without organizing a concert,Maddox said that he was planning well on when, how and what the show will be.
“Iam a very selective person who does not rush into things when I am not ready.I have to carefully plan for the best to my fans and reggae lovers.”
There is absolutely no doubt that the legendary reggae icon has been taking his time planning for the concert just like did for his albums.
The singer last released his Abato album in 2006 following the success release of Tukolagane in 2000 which consists of his great hits such as Namagembe,Easy,Omukwano Gwaffe,Nakatude and Irene among others.
His songs still dominate airwaves in Uganda probably due to the singer’s commanding Lyrics which carry messages of love, peace and Unity among others.
The ‘Namagembe’ hit maker will be joined on stage by other singers including Eddy Kenzo,Sammy Kasule,Juliana Kanyomozi,Crane performers and Frank Mbalire’s Ziwuna band among others.
The concert is sponsored by Pilsner Lager,a UBL beer product.
