Darlene Kamusiime who hails from Makulubita, Katikamu in Luweero district on Friday joined the growing number of aspirants for Presidential seat.
Ms Kamusiime formally wrote to the Electoral Commission informing them about her intentions to contest for the highest office in Uganda.
“I am aspiring to contest in the forthcoming presidential elections to be held in 2021. Section 3 of the Presidential Elections Act 2005, provides that an aspirant may consult in preparation for his or her nomination as a presidential Candidate with 12 months before being nominated.”
Kamusiime says it is from her consultations that she will be coming up with informed decisions which will make the back bone of her manifesto.
“Consultations will target all sectors of the population in the country especially common market vendors and youth,” she said
She also asked the Commission to extend her communication to all other relevant authorities especially Security Agencies so that she can have a smooth process.
The Electoral Commission acknowledged the receipt of her letter on Friday 6th March 2020.
The number of people intending to stand for presidency is said to have exceeded 25.
Among the latest to jump in the fray is former head of ISO, Lt Gen Henry Tumukunde.
