Lukwago Salary Case to Be Decided in June

High court judge Andrew Bashaija has set 6th June this year as the date at which he will deliver his ruling in the case in which Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago accuses the Minster of Kampala Hon Betty Kamya and former KCCA Director Jennifer Musisi of failing to pay his salary arrears amounting to 536 Million shillings

Lukwago petitioned court in 2017 asking court to pronounce itself on a number matters including the actions of the government officials behind the delay of payment of his salary emoluments

This salary amount without tax is for a period starting from December 2013 to May 2016, the period in which Lukwago had been impeached.

Among the issues which the judge is expected to pronounce himself is is whether the respondent’s (KCCA) failure to pay the applicant’s (Lukwago) salary from the month of December 2013 onwards was lawful.

Lukwago further wants court to quash the decision by the Minster of Kampala stopping remittance of his accumulated emoluments and compel the Executive Director KCCA to implement the resolution as was directed by Authority for emoluments to be paid without delay.

Lukwago says he filed this case to among others clear his name which was tainted by Justice Catherine Bamugemereire’s report which accused him being incompetent despite of the fact that High court judge Lydia Mugambe made a ruling in his favor
