Rugambwa is being accused of asking for Shs.12000 from people before giving them onion seeds under the UPDF led OWC program.
The news has since infuriated the State Minister for Hon Herbert Kabafunzaki, advice who says that Rugambwa should be questioned on why she is charging money for a free government program.
The minister was told about Mrs. Rugambwa by locals during a consultative meeting with the people of Kashambya Sub County at Kashambya health centre III on Saturday.
Elineo Bandaganire, the Kashambya sub county LC3 chairperson revealed that he was getting negative reports about the group leader.
He said when they tried to approach her, she told them she knew what she was doing and that she wasn’t answerable to the sub county or the police.
“This is misuse of government property,” charged Minister Kabafunzaki, “All people are entitled to benefit from the Program,” he said, adding that he would report to President Museveni about the situation.
However, when we reached out to Mrs. Rugambwa, she informed us that the Shs 12000 she is charging is not for the onion seedlings but membership to her group.
She says that some politicians in Kabale and Rushenyi are fighting her.
Nyekundire Boona Bageigahare Group has been operating in Kabale and Ntungamo districts for the last two years having been launched by OWC National Coordinator General Salim Saleh in Rwahi trading centre.
