Lions Club Charity Run in Pictures

A number of youths turned up at Makerere University Freedom Square to participate in a charity marathon that was flagged off by Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda.

The Marathon was organized by Lions Club of Kampala Central.

Over 1000 participants took part in 21, 10 and 5km marathon challenges, depending on what one could afford.

Themed “Run for Sight”, the event was put up to raise funds to help sight impaired individuals in Uganda by settling hospital bills they are meant to pay for treatment.

The exercise that started as early as 7am was embraced by a number of individuals taking part in the run, Zumba dance and yoga.

The event also involved free eye screening and provision of free corrective spectacles and eye drops to those that got eye diagnosis.

In the process to help out the sight victims, more three eye medical camps are to be organised.

Even young kids attended the activity

Over 1000 cataract eye surgeries are expected to be carried out with proceeds from the run.
